Heavy rain: Holiday for educational institutions in various taluks in Alappuzha tomorrow, orange alert in three districts

ALAPPUZHA: A holiday has been announced tomorrow for educational institutions in four taluks of Alappuzha district in the wake of heavy rains in the district. The Alappuzha District Collector announced the holiday on Friday due to the waterlogging in schools in Kuttanad, Chengannur, Cherthala and Ambalapuzha taluks and continuing heavy rain. The District Collector said that all educational institutions, including professional colleges, tuition centres and anganwadis, will remain closed tomorrow. However, there will be no change in pre-scheduled exams.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced an orange alert in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts due to heavy rain. Earlier, the orange alert was announced only in Kannur and Wayanad districts. A yellow alert has been announced in 9 districts on Friday.
