KOCHI: Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar is all set to implement a new system in KSRTC. The minister said that steps will be taken to find drivers driving KSRTC buses under the influence of drugs. The minister was speaking in Thrippunithura after inaugurating the first aid kit distribution program organized by Lions International District 318C.

"A machine worth Rs 12 lakhs will be brought from abroad to detect drug use among employees. Just as drunk drivers are detected using breathalyzers, drug users will also be detected. It is the government's decision not to allow anyone to report for duty in KSRTC under the influence of alcohol. Employees found drunk, be it an officer or a driver, will be suspended for sure. Accidents have come down after the commencement of inspections. The changes have been evident ever since the inspection was tightened. Speed governors will be soon installed in KSRTC buses," the minister said.
