Sanju Samson to replace Shivam Dube in T20 WC final?

BRIDGETOWN: Team India on Sunday will be aiming to put an end to their ICC trophy drought, something they haven't won in 11 long years since their 2013 Champions Trophy triumph. The Men In Blue have performed reasonably well and reached the Test, ODI and T20 finals but failed to win any of them. India are unbeaten in the T20 World Cup so far and at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, they will be facing South Africa, another team with a history of losing knockout matches in ICC tournaments. But this time, there will be a winner out of the two.

Most of the bowlers have been in terrific form for India, but the poor performance of Virat Kohli and middle order Shivam Dube has been a major headache. Kohli has played some terrific shots recently and has hinted at a return to good form at any moment. The Indian skipper himself commented that Kohli is saving his best performance for the final. However, Shivam Dube has received a lot of stick from the fans as he is yet to provide any signficant contribution so far. His best score in the series was 31 runs against the United States and has only scored 106 runs in eight matches. Many are skeptical about Rohit's decision to back Dube when he has other batters at his disposal.

A section of Indian fans wants Dube to be replaced by Sanju, who can score quick runs in the middle order. The player was in stunning form in the recent IPL. Sanju and young left-armer Yashaswi Jaiswal is yet to play a single match despite being named in the T20 World Cup squad. If Jaiswal is chosen instead of Sanju, it is certain that he will open with Rohit. In that case, Kohli will have to come in at third, which used to be his permanent position in the batting order. This could turn out to beneficial in the finals.
