Man sentenced to life imprisonment and fine for stabbing father-in-law and brother-in-law to death

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his father-in-law and brother-in-law to death. Muttathara native Arun was sentenced to life and a fine of Rs 5 lakhs by Thiruvananthapuram Additional Sessions Court Judge K Vishnu. Arun has also been sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for trespassing into the house.

The deceased are Mudavanmugal native Sunilkumar and his son S Akhil. The incident took place in Mudavanmugal in Poojappura in October 2021. After being brutally tortured by Arun, his wife Aparna took their 2-year-old daughter and went to her house in Mudavanmugal. Following this, Arun threatened Sunilkumar and Akhil over the phone. On October 12, 2021, at 8 pm, Arun called Aparna on the phone and verbally assaulted her. After some time, he came to his Aparna house in Mudavanmugal and started a fight.

During the dispute, Arun took a knife from his pocket and stabbed both Akhil and Sunilkumar. He also attempted to stab Aparna. Although Sunilkumar and Akhil were rushed to the hospital by the police, their lives could not be saved.
