KOTTAYAM: The CPM district committees raise severe criticism against the chief minister and his ministers. Kottayam and Alappuzha District Committees criticized the chief minister and his ministers in harsh language. They were criticised for their poor performance. The opinion of the majority was that the chief minister's style was not suited to the party and it should be corrected. Among the ministers, Veena George, M B Rajesh and K N Balagopal were heavily criticized. Some representatives asked what is the present state of the health department which was held by K K Shailaja in the first Pinarayi government.

Alappuzha district secretary was also criticised. The criticism was that the party's strongholds Haripad and Kayamkulam were relegated to the third position due to massive sectarianism and the district secretary of the party did nothing to avoid this during the election. Some lapses were pointed in the selection of candidates. Thomas Isaac was not a suitable candidate for Pathanamthitta. He should have been considered in Alappuzha.

There was a lot of criticism in the Kottayam district committee after the chief minister publicly corrected Thomas Chazhikadan in the Nava Kerala Sadas. This caused anger among the Kerala Congress workers and the party secretary's press conferences were criticized as unreliable. The performance of the ministers was also criticised.
