'Aniyan and Chettan'; Mumbai Indians' World Cup winning Facebook post goes viral

BARBADOS: The whole nation is regaling in India’s T20 World Cup victory. There is showering praise from former cricketers, legends and all lovers of this boisterous sport of cricket. Among the praise came one delightful Facebook post by IPL team Mumbai Indians which has now garnered massive attention on social media.

Mumbai Indians shared a picture of Kerala cricketer Sanju Samson and Indian captain Rohit Sharma under the title ‘Aniyan with his Chettan’. Rajasthan Royals, the team captained by Sanju in IPL, have also shared the picture on their social media page. Inside the Rajasthan team camp, Sanju is often referred to as 'Chettan'. However this time, Mumbai's Facebook post called Sanju Aniyan( younger brother) and Rohit Sharma as Chettan ( elder brother).

Despite the exhilaration of World Cup victory, it hurts a little for the Kerala player, who did not even play a single match in the tournament. In the absence of Virat Kohli, Sanju played in the warm-up match against Bangladesh but failed to make it into the main team.

After Sunil Valson, and S Sreesanth, Sanju Samson is the third Malayali player to win the Cricket World Cup.

“World Cup win doesn’t happen so easily. We had to wait for 13 years to get this feeling. We deserve this win. Thanks, everyone’ Sanju wrote on Instagram after sharing some endearing photos from the cricket pitch.
