THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The criticism against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the government continued on the second day of the CPM Thiruvananthapuram district committee meeting. "If the chief minister decides not to change his style despite a heavy defeat, no one can correct him. Why does a communist chief minister have such a large entourage? He should reduce the number of escort vehicles that cause disdain for the people," the meeting said.

The criticism that the allegations levelled against the Chief Minister's daughter regarding the Exalogic matter had adversely affected the CPM was repeated yesterday too.

The government ignored the common man which caused a backlash in the elections. Arrears of welfare pensions also had adverse effects. The mayor and the governing body should correct the shortcomings in the corporation's administration in the capital.
The members responded that if there is any further failure in the governance of the corporation, we should not be surprised if the BJP comes to power in the next election. Some members demanded that party secretariat members down to the branch level should give up their arrogance and be cautious in their behaviour towards workers and people. A serious correction is needed to avoid damaging the party's foundation.

The members said that the Pinarayi government turning its back on the demand for Caste Census has created anti-government feeling among the backward classes. Even though six states have already implemented it and the Tamil Nadu assembly has passed the resolution, the government is trying to get rid of the issue of Caste Census by putting it on the shoulders of the Centre. That it because the government is afraid of someone. The party central committee also failed to issue necessary instructions in this regard. The chief minister's trip abroad with his family in the middle of the election has also created hatred among the people.

The three-day meeting concluded yesterday. State Secretariat members M.Swaraj and Anavoor Nagappan participated.
