CPM ousts Kannur branch committee member for rubbing shoulders with gold smuggling gang

KANNUR: On Sunday, CPM ousted a party member for having links with gold smuggling cabals. The action came against Sajesh, a member of Kannur Peringome Eramam Central Branch. He was also a member of DYFI Eramam Central Region. Earlier too, allegations were raised against Sajesh for his dubious connection with gold smuggling groups including estranged party leader Arjun Ayyanki.

Sajeesh is also the driver of Kannur district secretariat member C Sathyapalan. This also created furore within the party after some alleged Sajeesh getting protection from the party's top brass. It was found that Sajeesh was involved in the gold-busting gang that surrounded a house in Kanayi. It was against this backdrop that the party decided to expel him.
