'Renovated house but old toilet left untouched'; Kala murder secret revealed during booze party?

ALAPPUZHA: It is doubted that the 15-year-old murder secret of a woman in Mannar was revealed during a booze party attended by the alleged culprits. It should be one among the attendees of this booze party who gave a covert phone call to the police revealing about the murder.

Three months before, police had taken a few people into custody over hurling a bomb near Ambalappuzha region. It was during this time that the officials received a tip-off from an anonymous caller informing them that the arrested culprits also had links to a murder that took place almost 15 years back. The fink also requested the police to look into the issue and unearth the mystery of the case.

Kala (20) hailing from Mannar went missing 15 years ago. Her husband Anil had complained to the police about the missing but no progress was made in the investigation. Over the years, Anil married again and built a new house replacing his old one. However, he left the toilet area untouched and cared not to replace it. When neighbours enquired, Anil would reason the Vaastu principles which made him not replace the toilet portion of the house.

Kala’s parents died long back and she lived in the company of two brothers. One among them is the handicapped. During a feud which took place in one of the culprit’s families, it is reported that the culprit threatened his wife that he would murder her similar to how he strangled Kala to death.

Kala and her husband, both from different communities got married after being in a relationship. As her husband Anil’s family were not interested in the relationship, she was accommodated in his relative’s house. Anil later flew to his workplace in Angola. A dispute broke out between the two after someone informed Anil about Kala having an affair with somebody else.

When Kala decided to return home, Anil demanded the custody of their son. He later reached home, spoke to her, rented a car and went to many places with her. It is believed that he called five of his friends in between and murdered her in the car. Anil is now in Israel.
