Ayurveda doctor arrested while carting drugs at Muthanga excise checkpost

WAYANAD: An Ayurvedic doctor with possession of 160.77 grams of methamphetamine was detained at the Muthanga excise check post on Sunday. Police caught him from a KSRTC bus servicing between Mysore and Ponnani. Kollam Thodiyoor native Anwarshah was arrested in the incident.

Anwarshah was carting the drugs purchased from Bengaluru to Kochi for retail sales. The seized methamphetamine is worth around Rs 5 lakh in the market. This is a crime punishable with rigorous imprisonment of up to 20 years.

Anwarshah runs an Ayurveda clinic in Dubai and it is reported to have reached India five months back for his marriage. The investigative team consisted of Preventive Officers Raghu MA, Latif KM, Civil Excise Officers Suresh M and Babu RC, all under the leadership of Excise Inspector Nithin KV.
