KARUNAGAPPALLY: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury admitted that CPM lost their core vote bank in the recently ended LS polls in Kerala. He said this while presenting the central committee report at the CPM South Region review meeting at Karunagappally.

“Party leaders and activists are losing touch with the public. In seven years, BJP's vote in Kerala went from 10 per cent to 20 per cent. BJP is trying hard to make inroads in South Kerala. Economically squeezing Kerala is part of it while CPM failed to bring this into people’s notice nor convince them.” said the report.

Secretary MV Govindan, who presented the state committee report, said the CPM cadres have dissociated with the public, which he blamed for the election debacle.

” The election review figures from the grassroots are completely misleading. This proves the party’s current dissonance with the public. Organizational problems in the Alappuzha district should be examined. Going down in votes in historical Punnapra and Vayalar can’t be taken lightly.

There will be strong corrective action for electoral failure. The state committee and secretariat meetings to be held from the 19th will shape the corrective measures. RSS is making strong efforts to infiltrate the SNDP. The women's wing is completely under the control of the RSS. Efforts are being made to capture the youth section. We should take this matter seriously.

'Tooth for a tooth' is not the ideology of SFI and some members with such perceptions should take course correction. The party should be cautious while appointing the new leader of SFI.” mentioned M V Govindan.
