KOZHIKODE: After KSEB snapped power supply to his house, Ajmal of Thiruvambady Ullatil house responded to the media saying he protested only against the additional bill received and dismissed allegations of attacking and causing damage to the office.
“We had a verbal dispute with the KSEB officers over the additional bill received. In the rage, I took some stale curry from our house and threw it on their dress. This is the truth and all else are cooked-up stories. No office equipment or computer was broken. It was the KSEB driver who smashed the glass. My brother was beaten on his head. It was indeed they who attacked us.
They smashed my brother's head with a computer monitor. Everything that happened in the KSEB office was recorded on the phone. But the officials forcibly seized our phones. If the phones come out, all their lies will be busted.
The video filmed includes the KSEB officials attacking us. The KSEB and the police are conniving and are not yet allowing access to our phones.” Ajmal stated that he would write to the magistrate to produce the phone.
The attack took place at the Thiruvambady KSEB section office. The connection in the name of Ajmal’s father Razak was cancelled for non-payment of bills. It is alleged that Ajmal first assaulted two linemen who came to restore the power supply at his house. Ajmal then reached the KSEB office on Friday and threatened and assaulted lineman Prashant and assistant Ananthu.
Assistant Engineer Prashanth PS then complained to the police. According to the complaint, an incensed Ajmal and his brother Shahdad broke into the section office on Saturday morning during the sunrise meeting and created a ruckus. The complaint also mentions Ajmal issuing death threats and damaging the computers placed in the office.
As a retaliation, KSEB snapped power supply to Ajmal’s house until further notice. This is on the instructions of Chairman Biju Prabhakar. KSEB said that legal action will be taken against the attacker. The police have registered a case against Ajmal. This is the first such case in Kerala where KSEB went for drastic measures.
