THRISSUR: In a devastating incident, a two-year-old girl was found dead inside a well in Nellikunnu Thrissur. The victim is the daughter of Suresh Babu and Jisha from Mullakcal house in Chiramanangad. It was on Saturday night that the mother found the toddler floating dead inside the well. The neighbours were later informed about the tragedy.

The parents and grandmother of the child were at the house during the incident. A detailed search after the disappearance of the child ended with the mother shockingly recognizing the child lying flat in the well. The locals then informed the incident to Erumapetty police. The baby was taken out by the fire rescue team from Kunnamkulam and was rushed to Taluk Hospital but the doctors declared her dead.

The victim's parents had a shop near the house, making them engaged most of the time. The child running away from the shop went unnoticed. The short height of the well casing also resulted in the tragedy. The baby's body has been shifted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital and will be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
