'Fear strong winds, not rainfall'; crucial five days for Kerala, warning issued

rains-imd-trees-uprooted-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: People are warned to be cautious for the upcoming five days after IMD predicted heavy rainfall in the state. The low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal has intensified, which will also reflect in the state during the coming days.

Fear the strong winds accompanying the rains as they have wreaked considerable damage across Kerala in the last two days. Trees are getting uprooted while broken branches are landing on top of houses. Under no circumstance should anyone take shelter under trees during heavy rains.

The hazardous branches of the trees in the house yard should be cut. People should inform the local administration about trees dangerously leaning towards the road. Unsecured billboards, electric posts, and masts are also prone to being uprooted during the strong winds.

If your vigilant eyes find any electricity poles and wires in an untangled mess during the rains, don't hesitate to contact the KSEB control room at 1912 or the District Disaster Management Authority control room at 1077.
