ANKOLA: The Karnataka Police collected the CCTV visuals of Arjun of Kozhikode going to the accident spot in Shirur. He went missing in the landslide in Shirur. Karwar SP M Narayana told media that the visuals of the lorry have been received. The lorry driven by Arjun was hit by a landslide on the Kanyakumari-Panavel National Highway 66 on the Mangaluru-Goa route at Shirur near Ankola. The accident happened around 8:30 on Tuesday morning. The police said that they have checked the CCTV footage to confirm whether Arjun has reached the spot.

The police got the footage of Arjun's lorry traveling on the national highway towards the accident site. No footage of the lorry could be found in the CCTV after the accident. With this, the police confirmed that Arjun was trapped underground. Meantime, even as the rescue operations to find Arjun entered the eighth day, no clue has been received yet.

The army headquarters in Bengaluru had confirmed the other day that Arjun and the lorry were not ashore. The Army is giving an indication that Arjun and the lorry may be under the mud and soil of the Gangavali river. A simultaneous search on land and water, with the help of modern radar systems and ISRO's satellite imagery, failed to find Arjun on the seventh day.

The radar received a signal at a depth of 15 meters at noon yesterday. A signal was then received that there was a long piece of metal and rock at a depth of eight meters. The calculation was that it could be Arjun's lorry and the car in front. Even though the entire soil was removed to eight meters in three spots by 5 pm, there was no result. The search was then stopped after that. Meantime, after seeing the signal on the shore, the army also searched the river last evening.
