School bus driver suffers heart attack while driving, dies after stopping bus safely

COIMBATORE: The driver of a school bus died after suffering a heart attack while driving the vehicle. Before dying, he saved the lives of 20 students after parking the vehicle to safety. The dead has been identified as Somalaiyappan (49) of KCP Nagar in Vellakoil.

The driver suffered a heart attack while driving the school bus. He first tried to save the lives of 20 children on the bus by forgetting his own life. Somalaiyappan succumbed to death after parking the bus safely.

Somalaiyappan started working as a bus driver at a private school in Ayyanur a year ago. The media reported quoting the police that his wife Lalitha was working as a school bus helper.

Many people have come forward to praise the good work of the driver. Everyone addressed him as a true hero. Paying tributes to Somalaiyappan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family.
