'It was Lalettan who suggested my name for that film'; Lakshmi Gopalaswamy opens up

Actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy is quite popular among the Malayalam audience through films and dance performances. The actress, who has acted in over 40 Malayalam films, is known for her performances in films such as Arayannangalude Veedu, Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Keerthi Chakra, Paradesi, Bhramaram and Ividam Swargamanu. She has appeared opposite superstar Mohanlal in several films. In a recent interview given to a YouTube channel, Lakshmi opened up about her favourite movie with Mohanlal.

"My favourite movie with Lalettan is Paradesi. I played the role of a woman named Khadeeja in it. Another interesting fact about that film is that it was Lalettan who suggested my name for that character. I heard that he told director PT Kunju Muhammed sir that it would be good if Lakshmi played the role of Khadeeja," Lakshmi said.

Mohanlal, who played the role of Valiyakathu Moosa in Paradesi, went on to win the Kerala State Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. The film was released in 2007 and had Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Padmapriya, Shwetha Menon, Jagathy Sreekumar and Siddique playing important characters.
