KANNUR: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi have left for Wayanad from Kannur Airport. It is reported that Rahul and Priyanka will visit Chooralmala, Meppadi Community Health Center, Meppadi Dr Moopens Medical College and relief camps such as Meppadi Government Higher Secondary School, and St. Joseph UP School.

Although it was earlier announced that Rahul and Priyanka would visit Wayanad on Wednesday, the visit was postponed due to inclement weather. Taking to his Facebook page, Rahul Gandhi stated that he would visit Wayanad as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Rahul had raised the Mundakkai landslide disaster in Parliament. "We are yet to obtain a clear picture of the scale of the disaster in Wayanad. Many people have died. There was widespread damage. The central government should provide all possible support to the state. Treatment facilities should be provided. Compensation should be increased and distributed to the families of the deceased immediately," he said in the Parliament.
