All documents lost in landslides will be made available; will prepare system for temporary rehabilitation, says Minister MB Rajesh

KALPETTA: Minister MB Rajesh said that the state government will immediately take steps to make available all documents that the victims lost in the Wayanad landslides. He also said that the government will soon prepare a system for temporary rehabilitation of those staying in the relief camps.

"The government will immediately take steps to make available all documents that the victims lost in the Wayanad landslides. As per the guidelines of the Disaster Management Authority, the Local Self-Government Department will collect information regarding the lost documents of people staying in relief camps. The data collection will be completed within two days with the cooperation of various departments," the minister said.

"A system for temporary rehabilitation of those staying in relief camps will be prepared. For this purpose, information regarding government and non-government buildings in the nearby panchayats of Meppadi panchayat will be collected under the leadership of the Local Self-Government department within a week," he said.

"352 houses were completely destroyed and 122 houses were partially destroyed in the landslides. People living in relief camps will be gradually shifted based on the availability of the buildings. Discussions are being held at the state level for a permanent system for rehabilitation. Under the leadership of Kudumbashree, micro plans will be prepared for the families in the disaster-affected areas. As per the project, 50 to 75 families will be provided with a community mentor. The project will be implemented under the coordination of five members from the State Mission. 20 community resource persons will also be appointed for this purpose," he added.
