DHAKA: With former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking asylum in India, the protestors deemed the moment ideal to storm the former PM’s official palace and indulge in massive loot.

In the massive pilferage, jubilant protestors took away sarees, and jewellery and even posed for the camera with their looted possessions. Some didn’t even spare the undergarments used by the former PM of the country. Many such images are now going viral on social media, which also includes a man flaunting a fish looted from the palace kitchen.

In a bid to further tarnish Sheikh Hasina, some of the protestors vented their anger by adorning themselves in Hasina’s trademark sarees which they looted from the palace. Apart from the saree, blouses and innerwears were also seized by the angry mob.

A video of a protester holding a suitcase full of Hasina's saris saying that he will give it to his wife and make her the next prime minister is going viral on social media. Apart from expensive sarees, Hasina had a liking for coral-beaded jewellery. The former PM’s collection also featured the Kalabati saree, a trademark of Manipur, made from banana fibre.

Hasina mostly used bandhani silk sarees. Other sarees in Hasina's collection include the Tant cotton saree, Dhaka Banarasi saree, Rajshahi silk saree, Tasar silk saree, Manipuri saree and Katan saree.
