NEW DELHI: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's plane left Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. According to a news agency, the C-130J aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force left here at nine in the morning. It is reported that the flight has moved to the next destination. However, information about whether Hasina is on this flight and where the flight is going is not clear.
An earlier report said that Sheikh Hasina will remain in India until she gets permission to stay in Britain. After resigning, she left the country in a military plane and landed at Ghaziabad Hindon air base in UP on her way to London.
BSF is on high alert in the India-Bangladesh border areas following the Bangladesh riots. There is a 4096 km border between India and Bangladesh. A high-level team led by Acting Director General of BSF Daljit Singh Chaudhary visited the border areas and assessed the situation.
Meanwhile, the central government today held an all-party meeting to explain the situation in Bangladesh. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar explained the situation in the meeting. He briefed the leaders about the situation in Bangladesh and the steps taken by the Indian government. Apart from S Jaishankar, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also attended the meeting.
After Sheikh Hasina left the country, the prisoners escaped from Sherpur Jail. It is reported that around 500 prisoners have escaped from the jail. Among the escaped prisoners there are armed men. Sherpur Jail is only about 100 km from the Indian border. So India has beefed up security. It is reported that 20 of the survivors have terrorist connections. BSF has deployed more troops along the border to beef up security.
