KALPETTA: Everyone recognized the three-year-old girl named Naisa (Rubia) as soon as she got off the auto-rickshaw at around 11 am in front of Dr Moopens Medical College in Mappadi. Her mother Jazeela, Jazeela's mother Jameela and Jazeela's brother Mohammadali were also present. As soon as they saw Naisa, many people approached, comforted and pampered her. Naisa smiled at everyone and said as if to herself, "Our house collapsed. We were washed away in the river. Oh, I'm feeling scared." Naisa lost seven people including her father Shahjahan and siblings Heena and Faiza in the Mundakkai disaster.
They had come for a check-up at Moopens Medical College yesterday. Jazeela and her daughter Naisa had sought treatment here on the 30th with injuries. They were discharged on Sunday. It was then that they remembered that they had no home to go to. "Where to go?" they wondered. Authorities had prepared quarters for them at the Nellimunda school in the meantime.
Jazeela had injuries to her eyes and legs. Naisa had minor injuries on her body. Jamila, Jaseela's mother, rushed from her house in Kadachikkunnu to reach her daughter after hearing the tragic news. "My daughter is a widow now?" They have none else by me now....". Jaseela and Jamila said that they will accept the offer of help from the opposition leader VD Satheesan. "Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come to meet Naisa. What all shenanigans did she show him? What will he think?" Jamila said in a worried tone.
Let's take care of her
Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan had reached the spot as soon as he heard about the tragedy. Satheesan met Naisa and her mother Jaseela in the hospital. She jumped out of bed and held out her hand. He picked her up. She tried to take the pen from his pocket. He gave her that pen. A painful feeling inside. Just as the leader was about to rush off, Naisa hugged him again and expressed her love. VD Satheesan went to Jaseela and said. "I'll take care of the kid." After saying that, there was some relief in his mind. The next day Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi came to meet the child. As Satheesan was leaving with them, he told the mother once more, "Don't be afraid, I am there." During the journey on Monday, he told his PA Ajmal, 'We have to take care of her'. He also suggested to call the child's mother immediately. PA connected the call. "Don't be afraid to ask anything, we are with you," VD Satheesan said.
