KOLLAM: Police received visuals of Ajmal and Sreekutty consuming alcohol inside the car which resulted in the tragic Mynagappally accident case. Ajmal's car first hit Mynagappally native Kunjumol and then ran over her to escape from the agitated locals. Kunjumol died later on Sunday night. After attending a booze party at their friend’s house, Sreekutty and Ajmal were heading toward Ajmal’s house in Veluthamanal.

The police got footage of Ajmal stopping the car on the roadside in Somavilasam Chantha Mukku and pouring liquor into a glass to Sreekutty. It was Sreekutty who forced Ajmal to drive the car over Kunjumol’s body to escape from the locals.

The accident took place at Aanurkavu Junction at 5.47 pm on Thiruvonam day. Kunjumol was returning home with her brother-in-law's wife, Fauzia, after buying new clothes on the occasion of Milad un-Nabi. The scooter tried to cross the road when the speeding car rammed into them.

Kunjumol fell on the road in the collision. The locals swarmed the area to help but Ajmal had another plan. He pulled back the car into reverse and then charged ahead at high speed running through Kunjumol’s body, leaving the locals in shock.

The car tried two times to take the reverse but missed Kunjumol’s body. It was the third attempt that saw the car running over her. The locals rushed Kunjumol to a private hospital in Karunagappally but her life couldn’t be saved.

Ajmal left the car near the Karunagappally court and escaped by jumping over the wall when he saw locals following him. The woman doctor rushed to the nearby house and was taken into custody by the police. On early Monday morning, Sasthamkotta police took Ajmal into custody from his friend's house in Sooranad.
