THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a possibility of a power outage in Kerala tonight. KSEB informed that there is a possibility of power control from 7 pm to 11 pm. KSEB has stated that it expects a shortfall of 500 MW to 650 MW in power availability during peak hours (7 pm to 11 pm) due to the large increase in power demand in the state and an unexpected shortfall in electricity demand due to a generator failure at the Maithon power station in Jharkhand.
KSEB informed that electricity regulation may be required to meet the shortfall because of the limitation of electricity availability in the power exchange market. KSEB has requested to minimize the power consumption from 7 pm to 11 pm.
