Release of Hema Committee report is victory for women in film industry, I never said report should never be released: Actress Ranjini 

KOCHI: Actress Ranjini said that she had demanded the release of the Hema Committee report from the beginning. "I asked to see the report because I had given statements before the committee. The purpose was to check whether what I said was in the report." The actress was responding to the media after the release of the Hema Committee report.

"I never said the report should never be released. The rest will be decided by my legal team. I haven't read the report yet. I saw only one line. The entertainment tribunal is something that I had requested earlier. It is true that the ICC cannot act in this area. The report suggested that the Tribunal is better than the ICC. I am happy about that."

"The committee was formed because of WCC. They faced many problems. I was one of them. I appreciate WCC. If they had not raised their voice, the Hema committee would not have been formed and the report would not have come out. I went and testified before the committee as Ranjini. That is why I filed the petition. I filed the petition because my privacy should not be violated."

"There is no proper cell to address women's grievances still. The problem is that even if we go to the ICC, the troublemakers are there too. Where should we go, where will we get justice? If there is action on the Hema Committee report, we welcome it. This is a victory for women in the film industry," said Ranjini.

The High Court had rejected the stay petition filed by actress Ranjini against the release of the Hema Committee report. The actress had approached the court to ensure that there is no violation of privacy in the published report.
