THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 170th birth anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru will be celebrated around the world today. In the backdrop of the Wayanad disaster, the Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi celebrations will be held in a subdued manner focusing on prayers, at Chempazhanthy Gurukulam, Sivagiri Mutt, Aruvippuram, and other places. A peace procession will be organized under the auspices of Sree Narayana organizations. A peace lamp (chathayadeepam) will be lit at Sivagiri in the evening to pray for those affected by the disaster in Wayanad. From 6:00 to 6:30 am, special prayers will be held at temples and Guru mandaps to mark the auspicious occasion of Guru's birth.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Guru Jayanthi Maha Sammelanam at Chempazhanthy Sree Narayana Gurukulam at 6.30 pm tomorrow. Kadakampally Surendran MLA will preside over the function. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust President Swami Sachidananda will deliver the Jayanthi message. Swami Sukshmananda will lead the benedictory address. Shafi Parambil MP, K. Varadarajan, Gokulam Gopalan, and G. Mohandas will participate in the event. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust General Secretary Swami Subhangadananda will extend the welcome speech.
At Sivagiri, Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham President Swami Sachidananda will hoist the flag at 7:00 am. At 7:30 am, Swami Paranananda will light the lamp to mark the beginning of the Japa Yajnam. Union Minister Suresh Gopi will inaugurate the Jayanthi Sammelanam at 9:30 am. Swami Sachidananda will preside over the event. Swami Subhangadananda, Adoor Prakash MP, V. Joy MLA, and others will speak.
"At 5:00 pm, the peace lamp will be lit at Sivagiri. The lamp will also be lit at various locations, including Sarada Mutt, Vaidika Mutt, Bodhananda Swami Samadhi Mandapam, and Mahasamadhi, on the Sivagiri hills and surrounding areas. At 5:30 pm, a naam sankirtan procession will begin from Mahasamadhi, passing through the Sivagiri Model School, SN College, and Narayana Gurukulam Junction. The procession will return to Mahasamadhi and conclude with prayers.
