The report of the Hema Commission appointed to study the problems faced by actresses in Malayalam cinema was released the other day. The report carried several shocking things including casting couch. Actress and Women in Collective Cinema (WCC) member Rima Kallingal reacted to the issue.
‘The report is of 235 pages. Will read and respond. We want to see what the Hema Commission report suggests. We haven't read it either. We are getting it now. We have been asking the report for four years. Will read carefully and will respond anyway. Very happy for releasing the report. It is the blood and juice of many for, many years. It is a game risking one’s life and career. Very Happy,’ said Rima Kallingal.
When asked whether she had faced such experiences in her career, she said, 'No, no. Don’t know the reason for delaying the release of the report. We are also asking,' replied the actress.
There are many shocking details in the report including that an actress had to play the wife of an actor who abused her, the very next day. The commission members said that even they could not believe the information of the actresses. The report also said that when they checked each statement, realized that there is such a bad trend in the Malayalam film industry.
