KOCHI: Transport Minister and actor KB Ganesh Kumar said that the release of the Hema Committee report is a good thing. He, however, refused to comment more about the report saying that he, as the Transport Minister, does not want to create a controversy by talking about it. Ganesh Kumar also said that the Minister of Cultural Affairs has given a clear response in the report and that he is sure that the minister would take action in this regard.

"Action should have been taken earlier in matters such as toilet facilities for actresses and caravan for senior actresses. There is no point in highlighting just a few points mentioned in the report. Things that need to be implemented must be implemented. In general, the government should think about the steps it needs to take," Ganesh Kumar said.

"No one has come to me with complaints. If someone had approached me with a complaint, I would have responded at that very moment. However, the reality is that no one has approached me with a complaint. If they had told me, I would have intervened and called the concerned persons on the phone. I would have spoken strongly. I haven't compromised on this till now, and everyone knows that. If they had told me, I would have taken action. That's why I don't have many opportunities in cinema" Ganesh Kumar said.

The Department of Cultural Affairs released the Hema Committee report under the Right to Information Act at around 2.30 pm on Monday. The report came to light after the High Court dismissed the plea filed by actress Ranjini challenging the release of the report. According to the report, Malayalam cinema is ruled by a criminal mafia and even minors are being exploited in the film industry.
