HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Monitoring Department (HYDRA) has initiated the demolition of the N Convention Center, owned by actor Nagarjuna. The action follows a complaint filed by Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, alleging illegal construction.
The convention center, built on ten acres of land in the Madhapur area, is reportedly in violation of regulations, as it encroaches upon the buffer zone of Tammidikunta Lake. According to official documents from the Executive Engineer of the North Tank Division, the Full Tank Level (FTL) area of Tammidikunta Lake spans approximately 29.24 acres. It is alleged that the N Convention Center has encroached upon 1.12 acres of the FTL area, along with an additional two acres within the designated buffer zone.
FTL areas are water bodies where construction is heavily restricted to protect water resources. A buffer zone is also established alongside the FTL area to prevent encroachments.
For years, there have been allegations that the management of the N Convention Center used its influence with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to avoid action against the building. However, the authorities have now taken decisive steps, with demolition reportedly beginning this morning.
Nagarjuna has denied any wrongdoing, stating that not even an inch of land has been encroached upon and that the land in question is Pattaya land. The actor also mentioned that if the court, where the case is pending, had ruled against him, he would have personally overseen the demolition of the building. He added that he had not received any official notice regarding the current demolition action.
