SRINAGAR: A police officer was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district last evening. Security forces killed two terrorists. Basheer Ahmed, a head constable of the police force, was killed. There are also reports that a sub-inspector was injured.
The encounter took place in Kog-Mandli village of Kathua district. The forces reached the area following a tip-off that terrorists were hiding inside a house in the village. There was a shootout between the terrorists and the security forces. Clashes are still going on in Kathua. Security forces have intensified their search for terrorists.
The army killed two terrorists in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam last day. Five security personnel were injured in the encounter. Four injured jawans and a traffic police officer have been admitted to the hospital. Clashes are reported to be continuing in the region. The slain terrorists have not been identified.
After receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Adigam village of Kulgam, a joint team comprising the Army, Police and CRPF conducted the operation. The forces surrounded the terrorists without causing any danger to the local residents. Meanwhile, the terrorists opened fire.
