ISLAMABAD: More than one crore Pakistanis have left their motherland and migrated to other countries in the last 17 years. This is mentioned in the review report of Pulse Consultants, regarding the emigration structure of Pakistan. This was reported by A.R.Y News channel. Upon examining the data from 2008 onwards, it is found that 95,56,507 people have migrated from Pakistan to other countries.

The number of people leaving the country increased significantly during the five-year period from 2013 to 2018 when the Pakistan Muslim League led by Nawaz Sharif was in power. Most people left the country in search of better job opportunities. In 2015 alone, nine lakh people left the country in search of employment, which is the highest number in a year. This number decreased to three lakh in 2018.

There have been significant changes in the countries and job sectors where Pakistanis migrated during this period. Traditionally, Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, and Qatar were the primary destinations for Pakistani job seekers. While there was a significant decline in the number of Pakistani workers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia saw a substantial increase.

Additionally, the report states that the UK, Iraq, and Romania have emerged as prominent destinations for Pakistani migrants. According to ARY news, the exodus of people from Pakistan is alarming due to its potential effects on the country's economy and workforce.
