THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revelations about sexual exploitation in Malayalam cinema continue. A young story writer has come forward with a sexual harassment complaint against director VK Prakash. She says that after calling her to a hotel in Kollam on the pretext of listening to her story, VK Prakash grabbed her. According to the complainant, VK Prakash paid Rs 10,000 to her account through the driver so as not to disclose the attempted rape. The woman has lodged a complaint with the DGP along with evidence in the matter.

The woman's words against VK Prakash

The incident took place on the night of April 4, 2022. I called the director over the phone and told him about the story. The thread of the story was sent through WhatsApp. He liked it and asked me to come to Kollam to tell the story. Although I told him that it would be difficult to come to Kollam and that I would meet him when I reach Kochi, the director's reply was that it was not possible, he was busy, had some meetings and was leaving for Mumbai.

I asked him if he will make it into a movie anyway since he liked the story. I went to Kollam because he said he liked the story and would definitely make it into a film. Two rooms were booked in the hotel. He came to my room and asked me to tell the story. He then offered me drinks. He said he could give me a role to act in a movie and asked if I could act out a scene now.

When I said that I was not interested in acting and that I wanted my story to be a film, he replied, "No, I will tell you a scene. You act it." After telling me a vulgar and intimate bedroom scene, he asked me to act it out. I said right then that "I don't think I can do it". After saying, "Then I'll show you," he tried to kiss me and put me on the bed.

After saying that I was not interested in acting at all, I said, "Listen to the story, sir. If you don't like it after listening to it, then just say it." When he asked if I was sure that I was not interested in acting, I replied that I was sure. "If so, come to my room, and we can talk there," he said. I told him that I was not interested in coming to his room and could send the whole story on WhatsApp.

This was said before I reached Kollam. I had replied that I can send the story on WhatsApp and if he liked it after reading it I would see him when he came to Kochi. When I told him that no other intentions would work, he left the room. I left there that night and reached Kochi in the morning. Later when I checked the phone, there were several miscalls.

"Why did you leave at night without telling anyone? Who would take responsibility if something had happened?" he asked. He was under a lot of tension. When asked if I had told anyone about the events of the previous day, I replied that I had not. "Don't tell. My daughter is a well-known director and if the incident comes out, it will cause trouble in the family," he said. When I said "I left there because that was not my intention," he apologized. He asked what I wanted. "I don't want anything and I won't tell anyone," I said then. He was sending me money from the driver's account saying, "You came all the way from Kochi ." I ended the incident there by saying, "There is no need for it, there is no need for it as you don't like the story, sir."
