Govt to disburse two instalments of welfare pension before Onam, issues order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will disburse the welfare pension of two months before Onam. The government issued an order sanctioning welfare pension of two instalments. Welfare pension will be distributed from September 11. The Centre has given permission to borrow another Rs 4500 crore and this is a big relief to the state government. With this, the finance department issued the order. Advances were allowed to be borrowed till December.

The beneficiary will get Rs 1600 monthly and will get one month's dues. People getting pension in bank accounts will get in that way and others getting pension at home will get it through the employees of co-operative society. There is five months of arrears in ssocial welfare pension. The government has announced that two of these will be given this financial year and three in the next year. It has been decided to pay two instalments this year during Onam. This will be given from September 11. Three instalments of welfare pension including September pension will have to be given. Each will get Rs 4800 each.
