Engineering student dies after pothole accident on way to college

CHOTTANIKARA: A 20-year-old engineering student died after falling into a pothole while on his way to college. The victim, Joel Baiju, son of Baiju and Kshema, from Anamthuruthil Veedu, Vattukunn, Eruvelil, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

Joel, a student of Rajagiri Engineering College, was en route to college around 8 AM when his bike hit a pothole near the Chottanikkara Adiyakkal bridge, causing him to fall onto the road. He sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital but despite efforts, he passed away at 12 PM.

His funeral will take place today at 3 PM at the Kandanad Unni Messiah Church Cemetery. Joel is survived by his mother, Kshema and sister Joan.
