THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress is planning to revamp the organisational level before the local body elections. Among those including KPCC office-bearers, those who do not have functional excellence may be replaced. Those who have not achieved the 'targets' set by the party and those who do not live up to the expectations in the organisational arena will be removed.
This also applies to the current 23 KPCC general secretaries. The working president and vice president are also likely to change. A person will also be appointed to the vacant post of treasurer. Those holding more than one position in the party will have to resign.
Only in unavoidable circumstances, some in the parliamentary field will be given the responsibility of organisation. The AICC is also examining party discipline, execution of duties and performance excellence through a performance audit.
Young leaders will also get a chance
The current understanding is to appoint two secretaries to assist a general secretary in the reorganisation process. Opportunities will be available, including for the youth. There may also be a reconsideration in the case of DCC presidents. The state leadership has already started discussions with AICC general secretary Deepadas Munshi and others. All but presidents from four districts are likely to be shifted. For this, the AICC secretaries will conduct a district-level tour and submit a report.
With by-elections due, the AICC has re-demarcated the areas of secretaries. VP Mohanan, who was in charge of the northern districts, has been given the charge of central zone and Mansoor Ali Khan has been given the charge of northern region. AK Arivazhakan will be in charge of the southern districts. The AICC leadership has also given strict instructions that AICC in-charges should be seen for up to 15 days in states where they have been given charge.
