THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a scary incident, a labourer got trapped inside the soil in Neyyattinkara on Tuesday and was rescued only after an hour of arduous work. Shailan, a native of Alathur, was rescued and is currently undergoing treatment.

The incident took place in Anavoor on Tuesday. The workers were busy clearing a plot when the soil caved in. After more than an hour-long rescue operation, Shailan was brought out from underground.

Despite the locals rushing with help, no progress was made during the initial half an hour. It was after removing the top layer of soil that Shailan was rescued from a near-death scare. Although the soil was removed from Shailan's body, the rescue operation was hindered after his legs got stuck in the soil. The rescue operation was jointly carried out by police and fire force.
