MUMBAI: Former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique's murder was allegedly due to the rivalry of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang towards Bollywood star Salman Khan. The Bishnoi gang had earlier announced that they would kill Salman's close associates. Siddique's relationship with Salman is evident from that. Siddique had a very deep connection in Bollywood along with politics and had organised iftar parties attended by Bollywood celebrities. Hence the name 'Bandra Boy'.
It was Baba Siddique's intervention that ended the years-long feud between superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Siddique ended a five-year-long feud through an Iftar party. The two fell out with each other in 2008.
On July 17, Shah Rukh Khan's remarks about Salman's ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai at Katrina Kaif's birthday party resulted in a heated argument. After that, the two fell apart from each other and did not even come together at events. The fight lasted for five years. In 2013, it was through Baba Siddiqui's plan that the two let go of their rift. Shah Rukh Khan was seated next to Salman Khan's father Salim Khan at an Iftar party hosted by Siddique. Siddique's plan was to make Salman and Shah Rukh talk to each other in person. On seeing each other, the stars hugged and ended the fight. Baba Siddique had a great influence in Maharashtra politics and the film industry. Bollywood celebrities rushed to the hospital after hearing the news of Baba Siddique's death.
Salman Khan reached after stopping the shooting of Bigg Boss. Actress Shilpa Shetty broke down in tears as she walked out of the hospital.
Siddique entered politics in 1977 at a very young age through the Congress Party. Within a short span of time, he became president of the Mumbai Youth Congress. In 1992, he became a councillor of the Mumbai Corporation. During this period, he was closely associated with Bollywood superstar and five-time Congress MP Sunil Dutt. In 1999, he contested on a Congress ticket from Bandra West. In 2004, he was the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Labour in the Vilasrao Deshmukh-led Congress-NCP government. Siddique quit the party in protest against the Congress' decision to form an alliance with the Shiv Sena. He was working in the Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
