PALAKKAD: CPM were caught in a fix over Palakkad candidate P Sarin’s explosive disclosure on how the Marxist party voted en masse for Congress candidate Shafi Parambil, to help him win the constituency in 2021. This has not bode well with the party as BJP wasted no time to blame the furtive vote deal between LDF and UDF.

And now, in an attempt to set things right, CPM Palakkad District Secretary E. N. Suresh Babu has responded on the issue.

“In 2021, all CPM votes in Palakkad went to the LDF candidate. There was no vote deal and it is indeed mischief from the media to distort the statement of P Sarin. BJP is now trying to twist Sarin's statement to gain an advantage in the elections. The turncoats from Congress party are now revealing the existing internal rifts within the party. That is the truth. More congress workers will resign in Palakkad and we will get to know about the ensuing internal scuffle within the grand old party.” said E N Suresh Babu.

P Sarin earlier sent shivers across the LDF camp when he revealed how Congress MLA Shafi won the elections in 2021 with CPM support. Sarin said Shafi would have easily lost the elections to BJP if not for the cross-voting from CPM workers in Palakkad.
