HYDERABAD: In a heart-wrenching incident in Blinds Colony, Hyderabad, an elderly blind couple spent four days unaware that their 30-year-old son had died in their home. The tragedy came to light when neighbors, concerned by a strong odor emanating from the house, alerted the police.
Upon arrival, officers from Nagole Police Station, led by Station Head Officer Surya Nayak, found the elderly parents, both over 60, calling out to their son for food and water. Their voices were faint from exhaustion, and their weak calls had gone unnoticed by the neighbors.
The couple was in a semi-conscious state, having been without food or water for days. Officers provided them with immediate care, offering food and water and proceeded with the investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased, who was the couple’s youngest son and lived with them, likely passed away in his sleep. His body was found to be in an advanced state of decomposition, estimated to be four to five days old. Authorities contacted the couple’s elder son, who lives elsewhere in the city, to inform him and assist with further arrangements.
