ABUJA: Five people lost their lives after allegedly consuming a poisonous pepper soup prepared by a teenage girl in Edo State, Nigeria. The suspect, identified as Aisha Sulaiman, 16, reportedly cooked the soup with the intent to settle a grudge against her ex-boyfriend, 19-year-old Emmanuel Eloji. Both he and four of his friends tragically succumbed to the poisoning.
The incident came to light when local residents discovered the bodies inside a home after the victims had not been seen for several days. Family members and neighbors became concerned and eventually found the deceased individuals. According to reports from the ‘Daily Star’, Aisha confessed during interrogation that her goal was to target Emmanuel, intending to take his life over personal grievances.
The Edo State Police Command, led by spokesperson Moses Yamu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect and announced a full investigation into the tragic event. Yamu indicated that preliminary assessments suggested the deaths could be attributed either to food poisoning or possibly inhaling toxic fumes from a generator nearby. However, critical evidence has since implicated Aisha as the main suspect.
