Nileshwaram fireworks tragedy: Sandeep dies while undergoing treatment

NILESHWARAM (KASARAGOD): The man who was undergoing treatment for burn injuries from the fire that broke out during the kaliyattam performance at the Theru Anjoottambalam Veerar Kavu Temple has died. The deceased is C Sandeep (38), an auto driver from Choyamkode. Sandeep had suffered serious burn injuries in the accident that took place on Monday midnight. He died at a private hospital in Kannur.

He will be cremated today after an inquest and post-mortem. Sandeep is the son of C Kunhiraman and MK Savithri. Wife: P Vijila (Pallipara). Children: Sanvia (9- Chinmaya School) and Ivania (4- Anganwadi Kinanur). Siblings: Savita and Sajesh (Dubai).

Around 100 people are still being treated in various hospitals. Five of them are still in critical condition. There are 31 patients undergoing treatment at various medical colleges in Mangaluru, seven at Kannur Aster MIMS, six at Kozhikode MIMS, two at Pariyaram Kannur Medical College Hospital and 14 at Kanhangad Aishal Hospital. Of these, 32 are in the ICU and 68 in the wards. The Nileshwaram police had registered a case against eight people, including temple officials, and arrested four people.
