OTTAWA: Canada has announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be arrested if he arrives in the country. Canada said it would comply with an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Netanyahu. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he would abide by all regulations and rulings of the International Court of Justice. On Friday, the British government hinted that it would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu under an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court if he arrives in the UK.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu has come down heavily on the International Criminal Court for issuing an arrest warrant against him. Netanyahu said the International Court of Justice's decision was "anti-Semitic" and that it was a "modern Dreyfuss trial". He replied through a video shared by X.
"I and the defence minister have been unjustly convicted. The people of Gaza have been warned several times. But Hamas turned them into human shields and caused their deaths," Netanyahu said. Netanyahu added that the arrest warrant issued against him would not come in the way of protecting Israel.
"The International Criminal Court established in The Hague to protect humanity has today become the enemy of humanity. The allegations are completely baseless," Netanyahu said.
