‘I’ve very little time on earth, gets warning’; stepping down from official posts, says K Satchidanandan

THRISSUR: Poet K Satchidanandan informed that he is stepping down from his official posts, including that of Sahitya Akademi. He announced that he is stepping down from all organizations such as the Ayyappa Panicker Foundation, Attoor Ravi Varma Foundation, Sahitya Akademi, and Desheeya Manavikavedi. He informed this via a Facebook post. He cited health issues for stepping down from all duties.

'I was warned earlier that I have very little time on earth. I need to spend more time on my laptop. I am leaving all organizations with which I have been associated as an organizer,' wrote Satchidanandan.

In early November, Satchidanandan in a Facebook post said that he was slowly ending his public life due to temporary amnesia. He had informed that he would only participate in poetry-related events and some programmes of the academy until the end of this term.

Meantime, Sahitya Akademi Secretary Abubacker said that he is not aware of Satchidanandan stepping down from official duties. He sought a two-weeks break citing health issues. He also clarified that he talked academy related things today.
