DHAKA: Ramen Roy, the lawyer representing Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, is in critical condition after being attacked by a group of fundamentalists in Bangladesh. This development comes as the Metropolitan Sessions Court is set to hear Das's bail plea today. According to reports, a group of fundamentalists barged into Ramen Roy's residence yesterday and brutally attacked him.
ISKCON India responded that the lawyer, who is currently in the intensive care unit, is fighting for his life. Radha Raman Das, Vice President of ISKCON India, also shared a photo of the lawyer through X.
'Please pray for Advocate Ramen Roy. His only 'fault' was defending Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in court. Islamists ransacked his home and brutally attacked him, leaving him in the ICU, fighting for his life,' Radha Raman Das wrote on his X page.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is continuing its anti-Hindu actions despite India issuing a warning. Bangladeshi authorities' action of stopping 63 ISKCON monks, who were travelling to India, sparked widespread protests. Despite having valid travel documents, including passports and visas, Bangladeshi officials refused to allow the monks to cross the border. All the monks are Bangladeshi citizens.
