KANNUR: Notice has been issued to the Kannur Collector and TV Prashanthan in a petition filed by the family seeking preservation of evidence in the case related to the death of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu. The Kannur First Class Magistrate Court, which considered the petition, ordered the notice to be sent. The case will be considered again on December 10.

The family filed the petition seeking a court order to preserve the phone calls, tower location, CCTV footage of former District Panchayat President P P Divya, District Collector Arun K Vijayan and TV Prashanthan, who applied to start a petrol pump. The family filed the petition, requesting that the court order the preservation of the CCTV footage of the District Collectorate, Naveen Babu's quarters and the railway station. The prosecution responded to the family's petition by saying that the necessary evidence has been preserved.

The family has filed a petition in the High Court seeking a CBI investigation into Naveen Babu's death. Naveen Babu's wife Manjusha, who was also a member of the party family, has alleged in the petition that the police investigation is not satisfactory and that since P.P. Divya is a CPM leader, she is likely to sabotage the investigation by using her influence at the administrative level. The family has earlier made it clear that they do not trust District Collector Arun K. Vijayan.
