WASHINGTON: Brian Thompson (50) the CEO of US-based United Healthcare Insurance Company, has been shot dead. The attacker shot Bryan in the chest outside the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan at 6:40 am Eastern Time (ET) (5:10 pm Indian time). He was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. The police have launched a search for the accused who escaped.
"We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him. We are working closely with the New York Police Department and ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Our hearts go out to Brian’s family and all who were close to him," United Health Group said in a statement.
Brian took over as CEO of the company in April 2021. Brian has been a part of the company since 2004. United Healthcare is a unit of United Health Group, an American multinational company. United Healthcare is the largest healthcare company in the U.S. by revenue.
