NEW DELHI: The central government blamed the Kerala government for the delay in providing disaster relief to Wayanad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah responded to the memorandum submitted by Priyanka Gandhi directly. He reiterated that the state had submitted a detailed memorandum only on November 13.

Kerala has caused a huge delay in submitting the report on the Wayanad disaster. Despite the Prime Minister's request, it was delayed by three and a half months. All necessary assistance was provided to Kerala at the time of the disaster. Constantly spoke to the chief minister and provided forces. Amit Shah's note said that appropriate assistance will be provided to Kerala and the memorandum is being examined by the committee of secretaries.

Sharing Amit Shah's note on X, Priyanka wrote disasters should not be about politics. Efforts to support the victims of such disasters must prioritize humanity and compassion. The people of Wayanad are looking towards the state and central Governments with hope, they don’t need excuses, they need urgent help to be able to rebuild their lives with dignity. India stands strongest when every level of government works together to heal wounds and rebuild lives. The Centre and State must step up and fulfill its responsibility to the people of Wayanad.
