Third term; S Sudevan re-elected as CPM Kollam District Secretary

KOLLAM: CPM has re-elected S Sudevan as Kollam district secretary. The number of members of the District Committee has been reduced from 49 during the previous session to 46. A 44-member district committee was elected leaving out two vacancies. Four of them are newcomers. 36 people were selected as state conference delegates.

DYFI District Secretary Shyam Mohan, SFI All India Joint Secretary Adarsh ​​M Saji, Democratic Women's Association District President S Geethakumari and District Joint Secretary Adv V Sumalal were newly inducted. Apart from the four members from Karunagapally, state committee member Chinta Jerome, former MLA Ayesha Potti, NS Prasannakumar, D Rajapan Nair and K Subhagan have dropped out of the district committee. State Secretary MV Govindan clarified that the district secretariat will be formed after the state conference and until then the state committee members from the district will work as the district centre.

Third time

S Sudevan is becoming the district secretary for the third time. Sudevan was elected as the district secretary for the first time in June 2018 after KN Balagopal, who was the district secretary, became a member of the state secretariat. He continued as the secretary in the last district conference as well.

Since 1984, S Sudevan has been a CPM district committee member. In 1995, he became a member of the district secretariat. He was elected to the state committee in 2015. S Sudevan is the first Kollam district secretary of DYFI. He has worked as DYFI State Treasurer, Central Committee Member, KSYF District Secretary, Cashew Nut Workers Union State Vice President, two times District Panchayat Vice President and CITU District Secretary.
