PATHANAMTHITTA: A tearful adieu has been given to all the four killed in the accident at Murinjakal in the district. The four laid to rest are Mathai Eapen (66), his son Nikhil Mathai (30), his wife Anu Biju (27) and her father Biju George (51), all natives of Mallassery. The four were laid to rest at Poonkavu St Mary’s Catholica Church.

The bodies were kept at the Poonkavu St Mary’s Catholica Church from 8 am for the people to pay homage. Hundreds from all sides flocked to pay their last tributes to the four. Health Minister Veena George was there to pay homage.

The bodies of Mathai Eapen, son Nikhil and his wife Anu were laid to rest in the family grave and that of Biju George in another grave. The accident happened when Mathai Eapen and Biju George were returning from the Thiruvananthapuram Airport after picking up Nikhil and Anu, who arrived from Malaysia after their honeymoon. The Swift Car in which they were travelling rammed into a bus carrying Sabarimala devotees from Andhra Pradesh. The car was completely damaged in the accident. Those inside the car were taken out after cutting open the vehicle. Nikhil and Anu got married on November 30.
