GORAKHPUR: A bride in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur decamped mid-wedding with her gold and cash. Her mother also fled with her. The dramatic incidents happened during the second marriage of Kamlesh Kumar, a farmer. The two could not be found after a search conducted.

As Kumar lost his first wife, he agreed for a second marriage. The rituals for the marriage were going on at the Shiv Temple in Bharohiya. He chose the woman after paying Rs 30,000 as commission to the broker. He bought sarees, beauty products and ornaments for her. She accepted all that happily and the marriage expenses were also borne by Kamlesh Kumar.

The bride reached the temple along with her mother. As soon as the rituals started, the bride excused herself to the bathroom and never returned. Her mother was also not seen there after that. His relatives said the two may have planned and fled.

Police said no complaint has been lodged yet. If a complaint is filed, an investigation will be conducted. Kumar said that he wanted to rebuild his family but ended up losing everything.
